    Default Nixxes Software to Develop Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox 360

    A recent statement from Square Enix's Darrell Gallagher has revealed that Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox 360 will not be developed by Crystal Dynamics.

    Instead, studio Nixxes Software will handle development of the sequel for the last-gen platform.

    "We're wholly focused on Rise being an Xbox One title without limitation, without even thinking of the Xbox 360 version," Gallagher told Game Informer in their Rise of the Tomb Raider-themed March issue. According to Gallagher, Nixxes proved they could handle development by impressing the team enough to pass development over.

    "Nixxes put together a tech demo of Rise of the Raider content running on Xbox 360, and we were totally blown away by what they achieved," he said.

    It's because of the large install base of the Xbox 360 that Square Enix has decided to release a last-gen version of Lara Croft's next adventure, and Gallagher claims that Nixxes' work will not in any way limit Crystal Dynamics as they work on the Xbox One version.

    It should be noted that Nixxes Software is not a newcomer to the Tomb Raider franchise, having worked on several installments including 2014's Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

    Fixed. Considering their initial statements before all this exclusive nonsense stated Rise was to be a fully next-gen title. And to be honest I don't for one second believe having it on the 360 won't affect it's development, unless they are 2 very different games come release time (much like the TR Underworld PS3 vs PS2 versions). The size of the environments will most definitely be limited by what the 360 can render.

    i personally think it will end up how forza horizon 2 ended up on the 360, very similiar but also very different, on the other hand the titanfall port on the 360 ended up being extremely impressive, so it could swing any way.

    Yeah I'm not saying it's going to be bad at all, it'll still most likely be pretty amazing. But less so than it could've been had it been able to fully utilise the next gen hardware.
