Gaming is starting to be recognized as a sport, and I think South Africa needs to get more involved.
I do not know about all of the games competitive scenes, but I do know quite a lot about the Dota2 and CSGO scenes.
South Africa actually had a local team BvD going to a huge event last year. Dreamhack Winter 2015. They fell out in the first round of the play offs, but it was great experience and exposure.
CSGO was also involved in the X Games Aspen 2015. So it is just going to keep growing and growing.
We need to have more competitive Lans and Online tournaments for all competitive games on all platforms, not just 1 or 2 major events a year.
Hopefully we will get there soon, and get all our local players on an international level!
