Evolve Launches With $136+ Worth of DLC

The Joker

Thread Killer MKII
If you wanted to buy all of the Evolve DLC available right now it would cost you $136, on top of the $60 game or the $25 DLC pass. There are 44 pieces of Evolve add-on content listed on the game's Xbox Marketplace product page, available in the $2-$7 range.

Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick defended Evolve's DLC plans, saying that in fact controversy can be a positive.
"People can argue about the business model [but] I think we're delivering a fantastic title that's well worth what consumers will pay for it."

I don't get it, are you laughing at the guy at Gamespot, or at Turtle Rock?

It's actually $145.87 for all the content on PC. I don't see 44 pieces of DLC on PC however, this is the DLC list for the game:

The Evolve Hunting Season Pass isn't actually a season pass. They're trying to trick you by 'cleverly' naming it. It doesn't actually contain any future, unreleased content. That's pretty despicable business practice, if you ask me.

They may not be trying to trick you. This pass will probably get you all the map dlc's (which any season pass would), however it seems that they do not want to include the skin packs in this, so they did not.

No trickery involved, just a change of what you get for what you pay.

The clown from Turtle Rock.
Read everything and then you'll see, 44 pieces of cosmetic crap and a lot of the models are the same, just different skins applied ranging between $2-$7 each lol

I don't trust them:

Boost your hunting party. The Evolve Hunting Season Pass includes 4 new hunters and 3 exclusive Magma monster skins for one low price. Unlock the Magma skins right away to customize Goliath, Kraken, or Wraith.

No mention of additional content being added. Sounds like they're trying to get uninformed people to buy it thinking it's the 'season pass', when it's actually the 'Hunting Season' pass...

If it is the actual season pass, why the hell is the description so small. Are they paying people per word now? I could be wrong, and I hope I am.

It does seem kind of stupid to not make it clear that you wont get all the stuff by buying the pass.

But it does say 4 hunters and 3 skins, so if the person is not just throwing their money around on steam then they should see this.

Okay, that's what I thought. :) The way you wrote it made it sound like you were laughing at the Gamespot writer.

Where are the days when you could create custom models, complete with animations, skins and maps and import them into your games ala Unreal and Quake? Modern games are so watered down and become incredibly expensive to enjoy to the full.

/sees hype train approach, takes a step back, watches it pass. Meh.

Knowing this practice all to well, there will be more DLC launched after the season pass which will not be included in the season pass.

I mentioned this in the Beta thread, but this game did not feel worth a $60 asking price and I could not see how they could change it to be worth half that. And now THIS article? The mind boggles!

Ugh...soon we'll need guides just to figure out what DLC combination you need to buy. Retarded...and sadly only going to get worse

I will never understand how the cost of DLC can even amount to the same cost of the GAME let alone nearly THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT!!!

People obviously have too much money to spend...

As with Borderlands 2, just wait for the GOTY edition.

Borderlands Season pass did not include the Skins either, just the 4 add-on area's and +11 level cap add-on. Looks like this model is here to stay... sadly people buy them so publishers will keep on using it.

terrible business model for the gamers and great for the dev's, I'm sure there are people out there who lap this stuff up. I really don't like how PC games are becoming as expensive as console games.

They are not really... Console games can cost you R1000 for a AAA title. On pc you could get that for up to/over R400 less.
Not close :D
