Smile Advice on buying a good to great sound system?

Good morning all. I am looking to buy a good sound system for my home. I already have a Logitech Z506 5.1 surround system attached to my personal computer, but I want another sound system for another room. I considered buying the exact same model, but then thought about buying another (possibly better) sound system.

As I do not know too much about sound systems and audio qualities, I ask for advice from the community. Anyone have a great sound system they can recommend? What are the factors I should be looking out for when buying a sound system?

I don't know much about brands, but a feature you can look at is optical audio inputs (this is important). Make sure whatever you run over the sound system has optical audio out first. Certainly makes a big difference compared to different output methods.

Then look at other nice input features, like auxiliary inputs and perhaps AirPlay if you use Apple devices.

    That's my two cents.
    That's what she said.

Is this for home theatre? Music? Movies? General tv consumption?

What's your budget? Do you want/need surround?

I want a nice all rounder. I would want to use it for movies, but also for music from time to time (mostly listen to music from my laptop). My budget is about R1 500, but I am willing to go R2 000 (I'll even go higher if a sound system is REALLY good). Concerning surround sound, it would be preferable, but is not top priority. I thought about surround sound should I somewhere in the future want to fit a room into a home cinema room.

So I guess a couple of B&W Nautilus speakers are out of the question...

I've always maintained that Creative make some of the best audio equipment. Though it can come at a price, best to get the speakers along with a decent sound card.
I've also recently been fond of the quality that Razer puts out.

What Caboose said, Sony's home theatre bundle is perfect. You get different speaker sizes so you can decide what you want and where you want to place the speakers. The blu-ray receiver you get bundled in with these (you can do separate as well) is very good for home streaming from pc etc.

I use the same setup to link my ps4, excellent sound quality.

However if you have want really really loud, rather look at Logitech (but remember the prices here do jump quite a bit).
