GDC is definitely not E3, Gamescom, or even the Tokyo Game Show. It’s a conference for game developers. Announcements are not the order of the day. Those developers, however, are working on new games and new technologies all the time, and what better way to show them off than as part of whatever game they’re working on?

Eidos Montreal and AMD will be presenting at the Game Developers Conference next month to show off the next generation of AMD’s hair animation technology, TressFX 3.0, and how it will work in Eidos Montreal’s upcoming Deus Ex Universe.

The description for the conference panel says that “engineers from Eidos and AMD detail the TressFX 3.0 solution used in Dawn Engine which will be the cornerstone to the development of the Deus Ex Universe projects at the studio.” The presentation will touch on scaling the tech and game from high end PCs to gaming consoles and “focus on game requirements such as artistic control and animation support.”

I’m hoping to see Adam Jensen, gruff protagonist of Deus Ex Human Revolution, adorned with long, flowing locks of hair. Hey, I can dream.

Although the name might sound like it, this isn't an MMO. Luckily Square is only ruining one of their franchises by making a MMO nobody wants (Triad Wars, why!?!).

Hopefully we'll get some footage. Dues Ex Universe isn't actually a title, it's just what they calling the next of the canonical entries. Which is really confusing.

Deus Ex Universe is the name we are giving to the fictional world and the rich lore we are creating for it, which will of course include core games, as well as any other projects that will help bring the world of Deus Ex to life.
