Default Buying games on release day is a bad idea

Buying games on release day is a terrible idea

We take a look at whether buying a game as soon as it releases is a good idea, or just plain stupid

These days the only time I'll pre-order a game will be to get the collectors edition.

100% agree. The article was silent on it or was it inadvertently omitted.

My personal loss was missing out on the Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty CE. I now immensely regret it.

I got burned with the last pre order i made... And its haunting me now... I really want to get a few games that are coming out on launch day, but the cons just out weigh the pro's at this stage of the game...

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to decide on taking the plunge on new releases. I agree on collectors but even then it needs to be a good bundle now before it entices me enough to make the purchase.

I really miss the days of a good game being released with single player content to last more than a day. DLC is all well and good but give us a full game and add more content later. Don't force us to buy everything extra... It is getting mighty old now :S

I think most of my recent buys have been from steam / origin sales anyway. Why spend R600 on a game that is only really going to last 8 hours...
