Default Sony: The last guardian is still in development despite trademark lapse

The recent lapse in The Last Guardian's trademark isn't indicative of any trouble with the project.

A Sony representative confirmed with IGN that the project was still very much in development. We have reached out to learn more about the causes of the lapse.

This is not the first time the game's trademark has expired, as it was reported to have done so back in 2012. Details surrounding its reported lapse are unclear.

Developed by Team ICO (Shadow of the Colossus, ICO), The Last Guardian is a game about a young boy and his bond with a large, flying dog-like creature. It was originally announced at E3 2009 and has since experienced multiple setbacks, including the departures of producer Kenji Kaido, executive producer Yoshifusa Hayama and Team ICO founder Fumito Ueda, the announcement that it was on hiatus, and its possible movement from the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4.
