Perhaps not original launch price which, although still $20 cheaper than standard launch, was still rather pricey. I got it for 300 after a while.
But my point is that it's a step in the correct direction to price something substantially lower than the standard when you aware that the product you want to deliver doesn't have a wealth of content that would satisfy the consumer.
The idea has been planted and the precedent set I think
Personally, if I had paid anything more than R200 I would've felt ripped off.
I get what you're saying, although I think Ground Zeroes is a bad example. Something like FC3: Blood Dragon would have been a much better example of that, in the AAA scene. And well, as I'm sure you're aware, Indie games do this all the time. The average price of an Indie is $15, compared to the average AAA of $60.
Blood Dragon wasn't made to be serious lol. But you get the gist of it.
Indie market is a different beast altogether. I don't think comparing the 2 is an equitable argument in terms of pricing for new releases. My primary thing is that it is indeed ridiculous to expect $60 for every brand new game . blood dragon and ground zeroes showed that carrying the AAA standard doesn't have to equate to carrying the AAA pricing scheme.
