i think its a fair decision. and i am also avoiding entering competitions where i know, deep down, i won't get a chance to play the game. better to give someone else a shot. same goes for the XBONE comp. I am not making any extra posts as I already have an xbone and would rather the prize go to someone who needs one![]()
Yeah, as Eugene pointed out, if you wanna leave out the spongers (read: reward those who have contributed a bit more), just set a decent level on your giveaway. Its what I do...the higher I feel a game is rated, the higher I make the level. So indie/bundle games are lower priority (therefore require lower level) than the AAA (even if they're not the latest its still AAA ok!!) games given away.
Level 3/4 is reserved for that kinda stuff![]()
Well the rules don't specifically state "outside of the give-away thread", and he has posted way more than 20 posts in the last month if you include those. Or otherwise, you would be able to take it up with the moderators of the forum if you feel that he is simply spamming.
Do we really want to go around punishing somebody who has given away 33 gifts to this very community http://www.steamgifts.com/user/dampi256?
Is it at all possible that you resent him because he has won a lot of games which he probably won't ever be able to play? Has that contributed to your decision to kick him at all?
Can we have a vote on it and let the majority decide whether he should stay or be booted?
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!
Wyzak, it has always been for ACTIVE all over the forums members, not just one thread members. Because that is why we created the new community group, random people joined the original steam group and non members from the forums won comps. It was the main reason for being stricter - and yes we got slack but I promise you - if he posts more outside the thread he will be invited back to the group. I have nothing against him winning, then I would have to have an issue with everyone who won multiple times.
Very well, I will start the poll. But I will certainly be disappointed by this community if it decides to exile one of it's own.
phalen - it also doesn't say that one thread is exempt.
Edit: I can assure you that it's not about personal loyalty towards dampi, but it is loyalty towards him as a member of the team, or a part of the pack. I am more concerned about the seemingly underhanded way in which it was done. No post saying "we are going to purge these members, please say yay or nay", no official warning to become more active, no week long suspension, just a summary boot and we had to find out about it from Dampi himself.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.
