I also agree to a certain extent that warnings are somewhat pointless, but on the other hand I think it could help in avoiding any similar rifts in the community in future. Usually when a person breaks a rule (any rule) they are giving a warning (in some cases more than one) before any action takes place. This depends on the severity of the rule of course, but I think in the case of community GA's a courtesy PM to inform someone they are in danger of being removed could be a good thing. Since it is really easy to achive the criteria needed to remain active on the forum (and by extension in the group) it doens't really matter either way to be honest.

The problem is that there are no rifts. Even Monk has said that he understands the reasoning behind the kick now. There's only one person who seems to still have an issue with the current system and he wasn't even kicked! He's fighting the fight for people who can't even be bothered to come fight it themselves. It's ridiculous when you think about it.

Do we really need to implement a warning system just because one malcontent demands it? I don't really think so.

I vote no warning system. If you need a warning to tell you you're not following the rules then you're not a valuable community member anyway.

I definitely agree with the ridiculousness of the situation yet somehow it has caused a lot of drama.

Instead of "an official warning" via PM it could even be posted publicly inside the thread so that other members might encourage someone in danger of removal to participate in duscussions on the forum and stay in the group.

That's a little more fair. Or maybe even just a general warning in the form of a Steam announcement, saying something along the lines of "please ensure your MyGaming activity complies with the rules of the GiveAway group" at the end of every month.

Obviously just better worded. That way people can at least not say they weren't given adequate warning.

I prefer this option, rather a public thread that warnings can be posted in. So that there is the "transparency" that people wanted? I will be willing to join the group again to do giveaways. But I politely will ask that I am not put into consideration for one of the moderator roles. But otherwise I never thought that there was an issue with the rules are they are. Altho almost no one noticed the post Eugene made saying non active members will be kicked. So maybe we have a thread that is locked and we only post the names of people in danger of being kicked. We give them a week to respond. But if you are kicked, and want back in, wait 2 months - do your part by being ACTIVE all over the forums. And then they can be let in again?

This was my other concern. I looked at the group page last night and nothing ever gets posted there. If it's something that affects the group whether good or bad it should be posted to the group page, via announcement.

I Personally felt like removing him from the steamgifts group (Due to his Agressive actions and disrespect for the officers of the group) but i will leave that decision up to the other other Officers and Jan as that would have probably opened another can of worms.
He should be removed or at least given a 2 month suspension from the group, he caused a huge issue over nothing and then proceeded to call all the regulars "Elite" which has upset a lot of them and caused an even bigger rift. He acted like a child and didn't stop until the "elites" left.

I fear that might cause the exact same thing to happen again all over again!! :/

Nah, he did what he thought was right. He didn't do it the right way but he had good intentions. I say we just leave it be.
