Update guys. Good news is RTO is very close to release, bad news they basicly confirmed it was held for pc because of an issue with xbox 360 update. Don't think it was a very smart business move with ME 2 being released right now, they could sold quite a bit of rto pc while people were waiting for me 2.

    Hi all,

The community update will be a regular feature going forward. I'm hoping to get it on a regular schedule, but this is new process for us all, so the first few may be scattered through the weeks ahead, but we want to make sure you are updated frequently and have a solid source for info, so watch for more of these (as well as other happenings in the Dragon Age universe) in the News forum.

The next edition of the Xbox 360 title update is currently in testing for certification. We expect this process to be complete soon. Once we are certified, we will immediately begin work on deploying. What this means is that the notification of the release date could come... on the release date! We're a matter of days away, and looking forward to getting this on your hard drive for keeps. We're moving quickly, but will try to be as timely as possible with further information updates.

Return to Ostagar will be released for Xbox 360 and PC within a day or two of the title update. The PS3 release date is still pending. Again, keep watching for updates. In the meantime, you can read MMOMFG's first impressions for some excellent preview information.

The items fixed in the Xbox 360 update are:

Some players were unable to unlock the four achievements from Warden's Keep and the Stone Prisoner during the first four days of launch. These achievements will unlock properly once you sign in to your Xbox Live and EA accounts.

The previous Xbox 360 update update introduced an issue that relocked class specializations. This title update will resolve that issue.

    * After loading a previously saved game, specializations that have been unlocked through gameplay will be available again.
    * All book-based specializations will now automatically unlock once the Warden reaches level 14. Books will still be available from vendors so you can unlock these specializations before level 14.

The Hopeless Romantic, Perfectionist and Recruiter achievements were not unlocking for some players. This issue has been resolved. To update and unlock these achievements automatically, load a saved game where the Warden has completed the requirements for these achievements.

    * The Recruiter achievement will still require a recruitment to occur after the save is loaded. If you have completed all the requirements for Recruiter, and the achievement is still locked, load an earlier saved game where you are still able to recruit any party member. Once you have recruited a party member, the achievement should unlock. This should work even if your current saved game still has unrecruited characters, but you have recruited all of them in previous play.

We also wanted to include a couple more news items here.

Starting next week, international gamers will be able to purchase Bioware points-in-a-box at select retailers, allowing them to purchase and experience DLC. At this time, we can confirm that they will be available in Germany, Poland and Russia. We're pulling together a complete list of countries where this will be available and retailers, and will update this message with that information.

Green Ronin announced that pre-orders of the Dragon Age RPG will be shipping this week. (Thanks to greywardens.com for the scoop)

I'm just over an hour into the game, still need to play it a bit more as it's still a bit overwhelming, as the last time I played a hectic RPG like this was when I was a Baldurs gate And NeverWinter Nights Addict.

    Same

I bought it as it came out but just haven't had time to commit to it.

Last time I played one like this was KOTOR2 - and then I gunned it for 32hrs straight without sleep.

    Hi all,

We've confirmed with Microsoft that the Xbox 360 Title Update and Return to Ostagar for the Xbox 360 will be released in the early hours tomorrow morning, January 29, 2010.

We currently expect the update to occur starting at the following local times on that date:

    Title Update:
    1AM PST (San Francisco)
    2AM MST (Edmonton)
    4AM EST (New York)
    9AM GMT (London)

    Return to Ostagar:
    2AM PST (San Francisco)
    3AM MST (Edmonton)
    5AM EST (New York)
    10AM GMT (London)

If you were able to download Return to Ostagar during its previous release, you will not need to download it a second time. However, you will need to download the new version of the title update.

The PC and PlayStation 3 versions are still in testing. We expect the PC to complete testing in time for release early next week. We will update you with PlayStation 3 status when we have more information.

    Title Update Release Notes:

Thanks for playing Dragon Age: Origins, and we hope you enjoy Return to Ostagar!

BW worked through the night and rto is now available for pc. Big up for BW, guess the complaints about treating us pc gamers unfairly worked.

My review on the dlc is that it has awesome loot but lacks story elements. Also I reckon the monsters are underpowered if you play it after finishing the game, a level 23/24/25 character is too strong for the darkspawn you encounter.

Still as a $5 dlc goes its decent.

You use the dao updater in the bin_ship folder. The RTO is taking some to appear for people. So just start the game and leave it running at the dlc page for a bit, I had to wait 10 minutes before it would appear, other guys had to wait longer.

Dr.Greg confirms DAO 2 and that the gfx will be improved. Personally it was fine in dao 1.

BioWare says Dragon Age 2 to look 'super hot'

    by James Ransom-Wiley { Jan 29th 2010 at 4:40PM } Xbox PlayStation PC
Dragon Age: Origins presents strong evidence that great games can overcome gawd-awful graphics, but BioWare isn't about to test that theory -- and the limits of our forgiveness -- again in the sequel. "I think one of the key things we're working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology," BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk recently told Joystiq. "I can confirm that we're doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it -- to make it visually super hot."

Now, to clarify, frisky rogue foursomes and lesbian alien sex are measured on different "super hot" scales, as Zeschuk conceded, "Dragon Age is, in the structural sense, a fundamentally different game than Mass Effect ... You have to make different technical considerations." Certainly, with Dragon Age: Origins, those considerations were designed to benefit the superior PC version.

Still, there's hope for a console sequel makeover, since, in Zeschuk's words, the process of iteration allows a developer to "get to a much higher level." "I think the overall visual style we're going to continue to evolve in Dragon Age," Zeschuk added. "People are going to see some cool ... I can't really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world is interesting. It's a timeline, and you can go anywhere." Go anywhere, huh? So, like the future Ferelden, where a race of sexy blue aliens has been possessed by horny desire demons? Super hot.
