Car Wash \ Wax
Hey people, anybody have any suggestions for decent car washes in or around Cape Town, I'm thinking I need to get my car polished on a regular basis and don't want to fork out buckets of money, some of these places or crazy.
I would just do It myself and I might hand wax, problem is I don't have a shaded area to do this in, so maybe early evening is a plan, my car is outside constantly
In that same breath any wax suggestions for hand waxing?
i dont know of any good places but it is advisable to only wax a car every 6 months, otherwise the clear code will erode alot faster.
If u have clearcoat use non abrasive waxes and glazes.
This is critical to keep contaminants from damaging the finish.
Give your car a good wash with dish soap before waxing. This gets rid of old wax. Like Dohc-WP said, it'll last you 6 months. I personally like meguiars carnauba wax, but that being said, I use polish. I've slacked off with the polish recently so I'm gonna just wax it, since you have to polish every other week (if not more) and it doesn't protect as well.
Don't use the dish soap to wash again until you're ready to remove the previous coats of wax and reapply.
If you are close to Cape Gate, there is a Butler's Car Wash in the underground parking lot.
They had a special a while ago for a mini valet with industrial fallout removal, chassis clean, engine clean and something else for R350. When I got my car back from them, I didn't want to sell it any more
They do a really good job!
Then once you have done this, you can pretty much spray off the dust once a week to keep it clean.

I use Fred's Carwash - they come to your office and wash the cars - a mini valet costs R100, and they are really good and fast. The rest you will need to ask them for their prices. Msg me for their number

I'm in Woodstock at the moment, so anything in the general area, don't mind driving a few km to get decent service.
You can try phoning the clearwater guys - see if they service that area? Unfortunately Im a northerner so I dont know your area well at all
I ended up going to a place nearby and forking out R400, look the car is looking good the industrial fallout is gone and its all shiny and smooth again.
But, I must say i'm not to impressed with the information and expertise, from what I have read there is a definite difference between wax and polish, and telling me that its essentially the same thing and then giving me a overly complex speech you have been brainwashed with doesn't change my mind on the topic. the product says. wax polish.... WTH is wax polish is it wax or is it polish, or is it a bulk buy product that does a bit of both for long enough for you to come back in a month to spend another R400.
Sometimes i wonder if the people working for some companies even know what they are selling, or do they just regurgitate what they are told without thinking, hey I will admit i'm no expert maybe i'm wrong here guess Im going to wait and see how long this stuff lasts.
In future though I'm going to do some more research of places around here and see who specialises in waxing and find out the costs etc..
Yea its why I only use Fred's or the Clearwater guys. Cos their products are good and the staff actually knows what they use.
