    Default Laptop Upgrade

    Hi,

    Was thinking of upgrading my laptop ... i have an ACER Travelmate 7720

    I've done the RAM upgrade from 2gig -> 4gig
    I have the T7300 CPU and was looking to upgrade it to the T7800.
    Is it possible to upgrade the GPU?

    Now ... does anyone know where i can get the components to upgrade my laptop?
    Is there such a place in SA?
    or, is it just beter to buy a new Laptop?

    Thx

    That is one of the biggest downfalls of a laptop, I hate to say. This is the reason why I am reluctant to get myself one and opted for a laptop instead.

    Unfortunately, its unlikely that you will be able to upgrade the CPU or GPU, the only way you would be able to do that is to get someone who knows about electronics, but I also doubt you would get any form of warranty.

    Its best to buy a new one. I have heard that laptop manufacturers are starting to put expansion slots into laptops which would help in the long run. Try get something like that if there is such a thing out already.

    heheh .... fail

    the electronics part is not a problem ... thats what i do for a living.
    My biggest concern is actually getting the stuff and knowing if it is actually worth all the effort.

    Oops, I meant to say "opted for a desktop instead."

    Oh, ok, then I guess so, but it's probably not worth the effort and the risk.

    Checked the boot screen? Try do a pause/break during the boot phase to see what slots you have.
