Well they wont be getting their free DLC. It is such a shame that people resort to this. I just thought up the ultimate in DRM. If you play a game on xbox you have to enter a code that actives your copy of the game... oh way PC's do that already. Maybe the activation is masked by the "free" content....
LOL that it's first on the 360 again... less piracy my groot toon
Play games, not platforms
yeah...
this is just sad.
And it again blows the 'Console vs PC piracy' argument out of the water - people that use this argument have no foot to stand on, according to me.
Anyway, cant wait for next week for the REAL game to come out!
I still think the rate of piracy on PC far outweighs its console counterparts. This mainly due to consoles being locked / banned so people are less likely to jump right into it - unlike the ease of PC game pirating.
Still this is sad, but I think it won't hurt the sales that much considering.
That's much harder to do, as DLC rarely makes it onto disc format, and without proper authorisation (i.e. paying for it), you're never going to be able to download it from Xbox LIVE.
The only thing about the internet is some people will not be able to connect with there XBox's to it, so sadly if they make a game that needs to be registered before play then many users will not be able to play it.
Games a long time ago did not have serial keys, they brought it in as a way to try slow down piracy sadly that never worked out, then they bought out cracks, and now they trying steam which is the best way now, but soon will be obsolete like the serial keys.
I sadly believe there will never be any option that will stop piracy there is only one way which is moral values of people.
Nah, dude, I'm talking about DLC (downloadable content). Authenticating games is a totally different matter. I also don't see online authentication coming to console any time soon, either. Consoles act as DRM management systems in and of themselves, negating the necessity for additional activation schemes. And yesyes, the Xbox can be modded to play pirated software, but that's going to bypass online authentication anyway.
