    Looking forward to it!

So ... After a disappointing and underwhelming purchase of a $1,000,000,00, the Truffade Adder, I went on to purchase a bike. Turns out (spur-of-the-moment) purchases are a ludicrously silly idea.

I sold the Truffade Adder for about a 3 quarters of its original cost (excluded cosmetic and performance upgrades). I then bought the Overflod Entity XF. I took a huge risk as this cost me the money I made from the Adder and then some. OMFlip! This car is amazing!

I costs less than the Adder. Startup is quick. Acceleration is sick. There are clearly many ponies under the hood so I don't think it'd be necessary for a turbo installation. Also, it handles like a charm. Next to my apartment, this is the most pleasing purchase I've made.

Is it just one of those games that I'll enjoy once I start playing it?

The problem with GTA games in general is , alot of the game is about you "messing around doing random stuff" . There isn't always alot of direction, it's total open playing field . There usually ain't much of an engrossing/deep plot, the plot usually consists of missions (with some tidbits about the main characters) that basically shows you stuff that can you do and explore further. So i think this can turn off alot of people, since usually you have to create your own personal little goals .

What makes GTA V so great is the sheer amount of detail that went into this game. It is insane if you think about it. Like at some point i was just jogging around the block (to raise my stamina skill) and i run into this drunk couple who asks me if i can drive them home .... i ended up driving them into the mountains and dropping them off at a really dodgy cult camp (hell knows what happens out there) instead of driving them home. This has absolutely nothing to do with games' plot or story or anything, it is just something you can do in this world...

I was also seriously impressed with how "real" the world is, as in, if you are driving in the outskirts (trailer trash territory) you will notice alot of tractors / SUVs / Trucks / Bikers driving around where in the citys richer areas you will notice the Audis/Porches etc. I remember at one point just when i thought i have seen it all, it started raining, lightning, fog the whole shabang The roads remained wet with pools of water after the rain and dried out like you'd expect in real life...small detail like that.

and i can go on, the jetskiing / tennis / golf / triathlon / cycling games within this game is also better than games that do just that...

Unfortunately it's very easy to start this game and drive around and ending up geting bored after you've driven from the one end of the map to the other end of the map, without actually having done anything. This has happened to me in GTA 3 , and i kinda lost motivation to play, GTA V i followed the mission paths and just spent the time to actually do the side activities when they appear and then you slowly start getting direction and goals (i.e. i want a bigger airplane or a helicopter or own that building or even see if i can increase my approval rating with a certain stripper...).

I disagree I think all the main GTA games since 3 had compelling stories and interesting characters. It's the reason I got to the end with all of them.

I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it's just the difference between what gave Mass Effect its 9/10 vs. GTAs 9/10 . GTAs stories feel alot more focussed around personalities and not about "where is all of this going" . Kinda like "just another day in a redneck gangbanger's life" . So sure in GTA V its multiple personalities and they're all linked and they all end up together doing heists, but it's not like i'm sitting on the edge of my seat to advance the story with this (where with Mass Effect i did) .

Okay but now you're comparing an RPG story with an action game. As far as action games go the GTA series always had really good stories. Comparing apples to apples GTA has better story and characters than games like Assassins Creed or Call of Duty for example.

That's also pretty debatable. CoD I'll give you, but there is no way that I will agree GTA has better story and characters than (some of the) Assassin's Creed (games). Ezio alone has more personality than all 3 protagonists of GTA V combined. There are numerous other great characters in the AC universe as well and the story (of most of the games) is really well written as well. That's just my opinion though and other people will obviously differ.

Not trying to say anything bad about GTA or it's characters and story, but AC beats it by a long shot IMO.

I would agree that it is a matter of opinion. I played most of the AC games with AC1 being my favorite, AC2 probably had the best story (after that not too great) but I find the writing in the GTA games far more interesting and the characters are usually more fleshed out (for what they where which is criminals).

Yeah at the end of the day it boils down to different strokes for different folks. I'm a big fan of the characters and writing (especially the dialogue) in GTA, but I really love how AC's writers work actual historical figures into their fictional story so that it starts to blur the lines between fiction and history. A good example of this would be Leonardo da Vinci in the Ezio trilogy; it was done so well that you can actually believe he helped out the Assassins during the Renaissance.

GTA is also very believable in it's satire of American culture though.
