I like it! I think workshops will now get much busier and I'm prepared to pay for a mod that took a lot of work.

Yeah I just think that websites like nexus will now shutdown since well people are going to use steam to make money since money talks. Also crooks stealing mods fom the nexus and putting it on steam for money.

Agreed, I don't mind paying for something that someone has worked hard on, and poured their blood and sweat into. It's only right. Give credit where credit is due!

I disagree, I think there will always be people and groups that will "stick it to the man" and create free content.

Like that guy making buildings for Cities: Skylines and having a Patreon. He could for instance put his buildings on this system if he wanted to. I'm mean sometimes there are some awesome mods and I think damn these people should be paid.

If a mod is quality and works well with the game, I'd purchase it. If it's buggy beyond all hope, I'd regret spending money on it.

Like everything else done via steam this going to become a flaming ball of shit.

Early access and greenlight. Ugh.

I am not opposed to great modders charging a nominal fee but this has horribly, busted and badly fucked up broken written all over.

Fuck Valve and Fuck Steam. Ea, Actiblizz and Ubisoft will copy and master the skinng art here

Play games, not platforms

Whew Tank, I think you need a holiday.

Because of early access I was able to play Audiosurf 2 early. Because of Greenlight we got Papers Please.

It's commendable that Steam keeps trying new stuff instead of just doing nothing. I love Steam because of that.

I would have preferred a better donation model. They should have added a system that allowed you to donate to workshop devs if you wanted to, as most modders do it for fun or love of a game. Doing something for money vs doing it for love tend to yield different results.

Also my problem with paid for mods is what have they put in place to prevent abuse. What can you do if a mod that you bought gets broken with an update and the dev abandon it, or if you buy a mod only to find out that it is noway near what was marketed.

I think its a bad idea. Firstly Steam takes 75% from the price. So Modders are going to charge a big amount for a mod.
Honestly its going to do more harm than good. The donation thing is a better way(which has been around for a while now).

Its basically valve/Bethesda making money off modders.
