Yeah but they forgot that people are paying insane amounts already just to run their games, i say, that if u want to up pc game prices to the console equivalents then give us the components that would run it 100% perfectly as well

Wishful thinking but yeah...
I think a major factor is the exchange rate. Keep in mind that 6 months ago [or so] it was R6 to the $ so a $50 ~ R300, now it's R10 to the $, so $50 ~ R500...
still wont buy a game that priced though.
Wait... what?
Haha, Wantitall has the Guild Wars Collector's Edition going for R 5,008.00...

Well console games cost 50 dollars in the states as well? So why arent we getting pc game prices? 500 rand +/-?
I know the owner of wantitall, even from before he started with wantitall.
They are a bit expensive though
Because console games need to be tested on more hardware, have more support, supply patches, have a call center for issues. Not to mention the before hand costs, such as server hosting, talking to graphics drivers, supporting more CPU types, not to mention support for both DX9 and DX10... Oh wait, thats PC games...
Guess console games are higher priced because they can.
Wait... what?
Anything over R350 for a PC game is ridiculous, the industry really seems to be doing everything it can to go to hell in a handbasket as quickly as it can.
That's another point, so many people that complain about piracy also complain about high prices while piracy is the only thing keep the prices remotely reasonable.
Its not really a trend. Its a few publishers trying cash in. Its basicly Warner Bros and Square Enix, if we look at the release schedules they are the only ones with normal edition games well over R400. Everyone else is between R325 - R400 depending on whether you use pre order pricing or not.
