I prefer role-playing games above all else. Especially an RPG with a lot of dialogue and big choices and a good story. I don't mind if it's a linear RPG at all if the story is great. How about you?

None. If I don't keep mixing it up I get bored real quickly. I'll try anything as long it doesn't force me to cooperate with other people.

Pretty much this. Even though I tend to prefer artsy side-scrollers, I love pretty much any genre - racing, RPG, FPS (to a lesser extent), TPS, adventure... The list goes on. I just don't enjoy multiplayer games - Guild Wars 2 was a fluke, but mostly because I played the game solo 90% of the time.

Management simulators, FPS, action RPG, RTS and racing games are my favourite game genres. I like games that I can build something, or something I can really sink my teeth into and get buried in the story. Not so much a multiplayer gamer myself though. I have done the odd multiplayer race or online shooter, but they just don't grip me as much.

Sports, Racing, FPS and Combat those are my Fav's. Used to love Strategy games but there hasn't been anything good lately i rly miss the Days of C&C Generals :(

Given the list and in no particular order:

1 Action
2 Shooter
3 Action-adventure
3.1 Stealth game
3.2 Survival horror
4 Adventure
5 Role-playing
6 Simulation

Its a tie between Open World Stealth games like Assassins Creed, Batman Arkham, Watchdogs, Elder Scrolls etc. (even GTA fits the mold to a degree)
and 2D platformers.

I enjoy a wide variety of genres and it's more about whether or not I like the actual game rather than it fits a certain genre. But if I have to pick one that I find I generally enjoy it would be 2D (and 2.5D) Platformers. Ever since the days of owning a Sega Megadrive II I've loved playing platformers.

I am a sucker for a proper action adventure game - started with the quest series form years ago and to this day - I will play a game that has an amazing story that pulls me in. All time fav is still the The Longest Journey and Dreamfall = still busy with dreamfall chapters but love it as well. Then I love RPG's as well, dungeon crawlers are a must have for me. MMO's used to be part of my life, but weirdly I have out grown them. Then I love puzzle games such as Myst. . .

My favourite genre is definitely RPG, but I enjoy most types of games. The only genre I really don't like at all is strategy (there are very few exceptions) and also not too fond of MMO's and platforming games.

Low commitment MP FPS (Casual like TF2 where you can join / leave any time)
Economy simulations (Anno etc)
RTS - AoE etc
SP RPGs - Skyrim

Only things I don't do is horror & DOTA types.

I don't think I have a favourite, each genre is in itself unique and fun. I geuss the one that delivers it story the best would probably be my favourite.

I will say though, simulation is probably my least favourite, I play games to get aweay from reality, not to simulate it.
