What are your gaming pet peeves

What are things in games or gaming that just outright annoy you?

Here are some of mine to get us started:

Silent protagonists. It was "cute" when Half-Life 1 did it. With a few exceptions, any game that still does it is just stupid. The only thing it accomplishes is making you feel like your character is nothing but a mindless puppet taking orders from anyone that manages to give them.

Objects clipping through each other in places where there's no excuse for it. I can understand sometimes you can't control where certain objects are going to be during game play, but when an pre-animated or motion captured character's hands clips through his own clothes or objects on it's body that just looks sloppy and lazy.

Gaming "journalists" that just report on whatever the newest thing is that's currently happening, rather than doing actual journalism and actually trying to investigate things and do some research, or write opinion pieces.

Exclusives of any kind. They benefit no-one except console manufacturers and people who try to justify their choices after the fact.

Cliffhanger endings.

To be continued...

Maybe.

How can you forget QTE?

Quick press F now mouse button quickly now A and D............. Sometimes one or 2 QTE is not bad but some games just over do it.

Unbreakable doors/windows...you can smash through steel doors, break down walls but then you get to a simple wooden door at the end of a passageway and it's like "crap, it's locked" and your rocket launcher doesn't even scratch it.

LOTS of things. Most notably the following:

Politics: I cannot even begin to describe how much it can get on my nerves when there is a massive uproar about something in the gaming world. "This guy said this, so now everyone is angry and you should be angry too."

The whole male/female gamer thingy that happened and then everyone hated everything: We are all humans who like games. We do not need to make any further distinction. Why would you threaten/harass/slander someone who is just as entitled to play a game as you?

People who argue passionately about what their favourite console is and that you can't enjoy your differently branded console because of their strong opinion. Seriously.

The broken game pre-order syndrome. The fact that people are okay with buying games that aren't finished. They get the game, moan about it, but do the exact same thing next time.

Unskippable Cut Scenes - I love a well directed cut scene of course but sometimes there is a need to skip especially if Ive seen it before.

Un-customisable Player Characters - It annoys me to no end when I can't change what my character is wearing to suit there surrounds. Like Just Cause 1 and 2. Its the freakin tropics and he is diving in and out of the water wearing black jeans and leather shoes! no man.

Mismatched walk speeds between player character and NPC's - "Agent, follow me to the briefing room, lets play leap frog on the way."

Auto-Aim/Assisted aim : Because apparently if it's good enough for controllers it should be good enough for your 100000000dpi 20000000Hz gaming mouse

People who defend shady developers, and journalists who cater more to publishers than to their readers. Also journalist who just copy and paste from other news sources.

Also fanboys who will defend a product no matter how many issues it has or how little value it has as a gaming platform, Xbox One being a great example.

My gaming pet peeve is people that belittle other for enjoying gaming on a platform of their choice. I mean how dare I actually enjoy games on my chosen platform right? Does it really matter to you how and where I play my games?

DLCs - I no longer want to buy any game "new". It's going to come out as gold with all 87 DLCs a couple months later anyway & probably for half the price & all the bugs fixed.

No objective marker - invariably the text instructions aren't 100% all the time so no marker just makes my life unnecessarily difficult.

Artificially limited tech trees. Some games start with way to limited trees for the first few missions.

Puzzles of the set the right combination of stones / keycodes to open door type. Ain't nobody got time for that...ill Google that sht. (thief/dishonoured/skyrim)

Any kind of "protect" X Mission. Except the SupCom 1 ones...those were bearable.

Mostly though the DLC thing...i can deal with the rest.

Part 1:

1. Repetitive dialogue
2. Audible voices or some annoying sound in the background while I'm trying to read.
3. Overwhelming ambient noises or loud chatter in the background whilst in conversation regarding plot or story of a game.

I agree with that one.

My other pet peeve is poorly designed interfaces or controls.

I hate falling into holes in games and I cant get out because the animation system is weak sauce. It happend to me a couple of times in the witcher3 in the bog.

Glitching through the map, badly scaled ai, story driven games where my actions don't influence the ending, lack of customization in rpg and racing games, bad voice acting, bad combat systems involving the use of parry and reposte(unresposive or just doesn't work),
