Well I knew a reccie. On his off time for "fun" he'll take a run in full kit with his sister cycling. She'll finish her 30km cycle and he'll go on running for a few hours more....

Heard from him they'll tie you to a submarine and go down.... teach you to hold your breathe or something. But yea, pretty brutal.

Just remember. SA Rekkies are 10 billion times more tougher than those wenies in america

Dont even bother trying for recces unless you are super fit, do not have any mental problems and are willing to risk your life for some strange ideal that you may or may not agree with. This is not some game where you can save a file and reboot when you get tired. You have to have hidden strengths of character that you will discover only when you have past the point of no return. You will reach the point of no return many times during your training.

My personal feeling is try get into the normal military (Dont waste your time with the SANDF tho), its easier from there to become special forces than to pop along as a civvy and hope they will accept you. I also suggest you go do a civvy skydiving course, if you can handle that then it will save you lots of agony later. Oh, hope you can swim, can carry your own weight on your back for at least 50 kilos, run 2.4 kilos in under 9 minutes (with full kit) and dont have a big appetite.

Well ive done the two oceans already so i know i can go the distance, i can swim, i intend joining the military reserves(not willing to dedicate a year in the regular army) and i want to do this mainly to maintain the military/naval legacy that my family has. Skydiving im not sure of though.

You mean paratroopers? Another bunch of crazy fsckers.
It might have changed in the last odd years though. The army is not what it used to be.

All the requirements are tough for these special units.
