News subforum

So I just noticed that there is a news & current affairs subforum on mygaming now? Might have been I just noticed it late.

Is this really necessary? The overall vibe on the forum will just suffer imo from the news that is 99% negative and the angry heated threads that go with it.

Yeah, it was created because a lot of people were complaining about the non-gaming related news that was being posted in the Gaming News section at the time. Luckily that has stopped completely now.

The web mirror says otherwise & the fact that it's got high subforum ID supports this (only the hosted server sub seem newer) - not sure how accurate the codes are though.

Be that as it may the whole thing doesn't appeal - mybb has the whole SA is going downhill & here is daily proof covered quite adequately. I don't see why the largely peaceful mygaming needs a piece of that action. Sure it'll drive up page views but it'll suck for the community imo.

But if I go to that web mirror and for instance go to Nov 28 2014 then it shows. :) It shows in that direct link that you posted too.

Weird that is not on the march 2015 one.

It's been quiet indeed then. As for bad did community comment - check the news stories on news 24... Endless stream of stuff going wrong (bad news sells) usually with a racial undertone. That doesn't make for happy forum discussions
 
I think we're safe. The IQ of the average News24 commenter is in the single digits. Not so over here.
 
Occassionally it goes into the thirties, but during competitions it often drops into the single digits*. :p

Ah, I see what the problem is here. :)

See the forum theme changed a while back. Before that the subsections of the forum didn't show on the main page of the forum. So even though subsections like the MMO forum and the News forum weren't showing on the main page they did exist and show if you go into General Gaming and Off Topic respectively. :)
