I've never really understood why satanic imagery is so offensive, anyway. I mean, it's not like pentagrams and whatnot are actually even described (or condemned, for that matter) in the christian bible. Most satanic iconography is quite modern - it's only been around for the last hundred years or so. It's not exactly orthodox or anything. In fact, in medieval christianity, the pentagram was symbolic of the christ's wounds. Its association with "witchcraft" (whatever that means, really) and its subsequent dissociation with christianity happened sometime in the late 19th or early 20th century.
And on top of that, I guess I've just never understood this fear and vilification of... shapes. As an atheist, it all looks like crazy, dark age superstition to me.
I'm genuinely curious, though. Can anyone clarify this for me?
