A relatively new genre, a walking simulator is:

A walking simulator is a type of video game which lacks many of the traditional aspects of a game (such as a goal, win/loss conditions, any kind of game system to interact with) despite taking the form of a video game. The phrase implies that there is basically nothing to do in the game other than walking around.
A: I sent you a new game on Steam, check it out.
B: Gone Home? That's not even a game, it's a walking simulator.
Or well that's how Urban dictionary describes it. The term "walking simulator" is also seen as derogatory by some but many see it as the name of the genre now. Some don't even consider waling simulators to be games (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/foru...nsidered-games).

Popular walking simulators are: Dear Esther, Gone Home, Proteus, Eidolon and so forth. Here's a list of games on Steam with the walking simulator tag:

Some of them are clearly only labeled walking simulators as a joke.

I like playing them and find them very relaxing. Gone Home was brilliant for instance.

What about all of you? Do you like walking simulators? Do you have a favourite one?
