With less than a week before Gamescom 2015 is held in Cologne, Germany, it's time to look at what can be expected and what to look forward to.
Many people are saying that Gamescom is becoming bigger and more relevant than E3, and seeing as Gamescom draws a bigger crowd each year, they may have a point. It is open to the public though, and E3 is only for industry people, but I'm sure the gaming worlds eyes will be on Gamescom for a number of reasons.
First off, Sony will not be present at Gamescom 2015. It seems they have focused on E3 and will only have a stronger showing at the Paris Games Week later in October.
This means that Microsoft has some shine to catch, and catch it will. We already know that games like Scalebound, Quantum Break and Crackdown is slated to be shown in more depth at Gamescom, and with games like Gears Of War, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza 6, Halo 5 and others, I suspect that the Xbox One will be on full display and punted quite hard at this show. Microsoft will also most certainly show more Windows 10 integration with the Xbox, seeing as Windows 10 is upon us finally.
Another big reason for gamers to get excited about Gamescom 2015 will be the vast virtual reality showing at the show. There are a few venders of VR tech that will be showcasing many new developments, with Oculus Rift surely leading the pack. Oculus Rift has confirmed to have a full event at the show (5 August) and I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of the tech that's to come in 2016.
Other games to look forward to include: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Assassins Creed Syndicate, Dark Souls 3, MGS5, For Honor, Final Fantasy 15, Mafia 3, Overwatch, Star Citizen, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, The Division, The Surge, The Guild 3, Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void, and many more.
So, with all said and done, what are you most looking forward to see from coming from Gamescom 2015? Will you be watching it live?
