As a camera operator/video editor I am really into colour grading and have been experimenting with picture profiles for games on my tv this week. Our modern tv's actually give us a nice array of options to tweak so that we can achieve a fairly decent grade which improves the look and feel of a game completely. I can't believe I've never tried it before!
I have been playing Enslaved on the 360 and I just felt the grfx were too bright, especially in the greens. So I turned the colour intensity way down as well as the contrast and dropped the brightness a slight bit. I also turned sharpness off completely so it looks like a pseudo anti-alias effect but kept noise on because a bit of grain can actually be cool for a more gritty look.
This is the look I have achieved. Way more real looking aiding in the immersion factor! Give it a go if you have the time.
I also recommend playing Enslaved if you haven't already. Its fantastic. Reminds me very much of the Prince of Persia Sands of Time and The Last of Us.
