As we are heading to the back end of the year, it's almost time to start thinking of taking that well deserved holiday. And what better way to relax than to plan an epic road trip through this beautiful country of ours. Well, that's my plan for my upcoming break. And seeing as spring is just around the corner, there is no better time than now to plan such a retreat.
So that got me thinking, what games are the best for a simulated road trip? Games that lets you get into a car and just drive for miles upon miles, seeing different sights andcrashingdriving through various little towns and cities. So I did some looking around, and here is my pick of games that are perfect to take a long and relaxing road trip in:
1. The Crew
You are given a map of basically the entire USA with various different roads and sights to see all over. There are a wide variety of cars to choose from, and many things to drive into. You might even get the odd race or jump along the way, should you want to spice up your road trip somewhat.
2. Forza Horizon 2
Okay, the game has a feature called Road Trip, so this one was easy to pick. But it cannot be said that you will not enjoy a nice road trip. The map spans across a fictional (but very real feeling) southern European area, which is perfect to take a fire-breathing super car on an epic journey. The in-game tunes also makes for perfect road trip music.
3. Test Driver Unlimited 2
There is lot's of things wrong with TDU2, but with over 1000km of open road, day-night cycles, gorgeous vistas and lots of high performance cars, it's undeniably perfect for a great (and long) gaming road trip. And if you feel like it, just stop in one of the various towns or cities and buy a house (because that's exactly why you want to play a racing game...)
4. GTA 5
Though not a racing game, GTA has a huge and stupidly detailed map and many towns and things to do and see all over. It's rather perfect for a road trip. Also, if you get board of just driving around, just get out and shoot someone in the face, because why not.
5. Just Cause 2
Why would I add Just Cause to this list? Well..just cause...*ba dum tish*. Okay, bad jokes aside, Just Cause has a huge map filled with many things that turn into fire and explosions should you have a gun. And wouldn't you know it, JC2 has plenty of gun. Also, there are a lot of cars available to drive around the gargantuan map. Plus, where else can you go on a Road Trip of Destruction and Doom other than JC2?
So, what other games do you think would make for great road trip simulators?
