Ya, my problem with the 2 point plugs is the cheap adapters... That, and power strips that are so poorly designed you can either use three 3 point plugs, or one wall wart...

If the product doesn't cost too much and a 3-pin (prong_ plug is available, I prefer to snip the plug re-wire for use of the 3 prong.
Edit: This also depends on the multiplug as well. A decently-built multiplug makes good enough provision for 3, 2 and 2 (round) prong plugs. Older versions are crappy and the plug pops out at even the slightest pull, knock or nudge.
i dont know why they phasing out the old 3 pronged plugs, yes its an old design but it has been working problem free for what 50 years +.
In Ireland they use this
It has a couple of issues actually, which is why the UK switched in 1947 to this:
The biggest thing is that the openings of the socket should be shuttered and be small enough as to prevent a child's fingers from being shoved into the openings. The 3 prong SA sockets we are used to is shuttered, but the openings are too big, thus allowing fingers of small children to enter the holes. The other design difference is that the actual contact pins (the metal bits) cannot be touched when pulling out the plug until such time as the pins are no longer making contact with the terminals on the inside of the socket.
sometimes you gotta bend the pins a little to fit it in a multiplug
There is nothing more infuriating like working an a ladder then that 2 prong plug pulls out slighly. normally chane it asap after warrenty expires.
