Not suprised by this. It's time to upgrade to a PS4 and pay to play online :/
its all about jargon from the publishers eg namco said a few years back tekken 6 couldnt run on the ps2 yet they released a psp version which had all the core gameplay features from the ps3/360 version which would have easily been able to run on the ps2, there have been plenty of times when psp games were ported to ps2 and it ended up looking waay better than the psp original versions.
they can say what they want i dont think mkx was cancelled because of technical limitations, the bottom line is high voltage was intially hadling the port and wb dropped them and getting another dev team and paying them also to finish a game that was already almost a year old was probably not feasible
this is how the iphone version looks they could have easily achieved that level of graphic fidelity (and even better) on the 2 previous gen consoles
