Default Konami Devs Gave Up Their Vacations To Ensure That Metal Gear Solid 5 Would Launch on PC On Time

Do you remember how, originally, the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was due to launch on September 15, two weeks after the launch of the console versions? It may not seem like much, but when you have a series and a game that are so reliant on their story, and on all the shocks and twists that come with it, those two weeks are enough time for spoilers and story details to proliferate, and for the experience to be compromised for a huge subset of players, for no fault of their own.

The game was initially moved ahead to September 1, the same day that it would be launching on other systems- and apparently, this happened because Konami developers forewent their vacation time, to ensure the game would launch on time.

“PC launch day earlier than original plan,”senior producer Ken-ichiro Imaizumi said. “Our programmers didn’t take summer vacation to make it happen.. kinda sad.” He added, “Obviously, their families are not happy :-(”

It is extremely sad that they had to forego their vacation time- on the other hand, the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is absolutely stunning. It looks better than any other version of the game, and may in fact be one of the most technically proficient PC games on the market right now.

At the very least, all of Konami’s extra efforts paid off.

Neither are the devs, I'm sure... Game devs have the worst hours imaginable...

Wow, you have to admire them for the extra effort. Still I wonder if this was from dedication to the game or because the publishers are so inflexible.

Trying to garner sympathy in the wake of several events that got the company some very negative press.

    Sorry, not sorry.

Perhaps this is explains why the files aren't included on the disc - they were still completing development while the Steam discs were being produced [emoji14]
