Default Gamepad Controllers, which one is the winner?

It's come down to 3 controllers for me. 99% because of price. The rest is down to where I will be using the controller and what you get for the price.

Would love to get some feedback from the community on this and what they would choose if they could only choose between the 3.

    So the controllers are:
    1. Logitech F710 wireless

    2. Speedlink Xeox Wireless pro

    3. Thrustmaster F1 wireless

I will mostly be playing Elite: Dangerous with it. I have tried joysticks and have found it lacking. So now I would like to see how a controller holds up in the game.

Definitely the F710. Mine is going on 2 years old now and I still love it. I've only changed the batteries 3 times in all that time, so it's economical as well.

I've heard it's got a bit of a deadzone on it's joysticks though. And that the curvature of the controller is not very friendly to people with large hands. Which would be the issue for me in this case.

    What's your opinion on that?

Kinda curious, whats lacking about joysticks? I can imagine a gamepad would be a bit more lacking for something like ED.

Why not wait a while and consider the Steam Controller? I was extremely impressed when it launched...

I used the Saitek FLY5, and it just didn't work for me at all. The way my desk is set up made for a very awkward stance and it actually ended up hurting my wrists. It's mostly due to how I was forced to place the joystick on the desk. So you know, it's completely a personal experience. But I ended up preferring a keyboard and mouse layout in the end.

Because these controllers aren't that expensive and I will get a steam controller if it's worth it. This is for me to try out for now. And if it does not work then I'll give it to the wife so she can attempt to play sims with a controller. Because reasons.

Ah okay, makes sense. I had to change my desk to accommodate my HOTAS setup after experiencing some light carpal tunnel. I've been eyeing the the F710 myself for 3rd person games. The reviews on the other 2 looked a bit dodgy.

Indeed. I would like to one day try out a hotas. But for now the mouse and keyboard have been quite handy and I can keep my own with experienced pilots. That being said though, I have had the opportunity to play using a X-52 and it was amazing. So thinking about getting one maybe next year.

Aye i'm running with the X-55 and it was worth every cent. Do yourself a favour and look at getting a head tracking setup. Its a massive game changer.

Was thinking of TrackIR and did a lot of research recently into DIY packages. And I might just grab an old phone of mine and set it up for just that. Initial tests showed it to be promising.
