Those that have turned to/tried piracy aren't likely to stop. Its too fast, easy, cheap, hassle free and the situation is starting to snowball. A lot of pirate versions of games are superior to the original copy in many ways (DRM factoring in here big time) and this is a failure of epic proportion. This first and foremost needs to be addressed, so that there is actually incentive to buy original copies again.

I completely agree though, that devs/publishers are within their rights to protect their software from piracy, but they need an ingenious solution to the problem, not tightening up the current already proven to be useless forms of DRM even further. At the moment, they are just fueling the piracy snowball.
