Sony will remove Driveclub: PlayStation Plus Edition as a free download for subscribers October 6.

Along with revealing the PlayStation Plus October games lineup, Sony announced that Driveclub: PlayStation Plus Edition would be exiting the service next month on the PlayStation Blog. "Driveclub: PlayStation Plus Edition will no longer be available as a free download for Plus members starting on October 6th, 2015," wrote social media specialist Ryan Clements.

The PlayStation Plus edition of Driveclub launched in June, with Sony rolling out content for the version in stages. The company originally planned to release the PlayStation Plus edition at Driveclub's launch, but server issues caused the lengthy delay.

Sony and developer Evolution Studios admitted they were "embarrassed" by Driveclub's launch. But the racing game has gone on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide.

this is kind of a fail move from sony since the PS+ version hasnt even been out that long, they could have waited atleast until end of december to take it down.

Agreed... It hasn't been up long at all...

Dunno why people complain. Can just add it to you account and always download it later? Been doing that with all the ps+ games since launch, and they all show up in my download list/library, ready to download whenever I want (and still have an active PS+ sub).

What's worded so poorly is they said "no longer available as a free download". I am assuming that means if it is already on your account, you still have it, and can download the actual files. I am assuming it means you won't be able to add it to your cart and link it to your account anymore.

But there is that nagging at the back of my head saying "all PS+ games show an expiration date the same as your PS+ subscription", so will the PS+ Driveclub still have the same expiration date, or will they forcibly expire it from everyone's account.

I'm just gonna hope my assumptions are right. Not the end of the world if I don't, but I'm not spending any money on the game...
