Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be ‘far, far bigger’ than the Witcher 3

CD Projekt Red claimed that it wasn’t going to discuss Cyberpunk 2077 again until 2017 but it looks like the studio is just too excited about the project to not answer a few questions about it. The team’s ambitious RPG was announced a while back and thanks to the massive success of The Witcher 3, many are anticipating CD Projekt Red’s next release, which will be “far, far bigger”.

The comment was made by visual effects artist, Jose Teixeira while speaking with MCV. The Witcher 3 was the studio’s first attempt at a fully open world RPG and many will agree that they pulled it off magnificently and naturally, the development process taught the team a lot: “Working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it”.

“We’re really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter. I have a lot of things that I want to change and do better the next time around, and I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something that they go ‘I did this this time, next time I can do it differently, I can do it better’.”

CD Projekt Red has proved itself as a capable studio over the last few years with The Witcher series. Cyberpunk 2077 will be a brand new IP to explore, so it will be interesting to see how the team tackles that. However, for now The Witcher is still the primary focus, we won’t be seeing Cyberpunk in the spotlight until around 2017.

Coming: When it's ready!

I love it. Good job. Just hope the game turns out decent. Hope it turns out amazing.

No no no this is the wrong approuch, I am looking forward to the game but dont go comparing to the witcher because over hyping a game is bad.

Ahhh this game, i remember seeing this trailer ages ago, I really hope it turns out great, as long as people don't go over hyping it, it should.

Eh, size doesn't really matter in the end. What matters is the substance. Witcher 3 had a lot of boring busywork in its open world that ended up grating a little.
