Afrihost fined for ADSL network problems

Afrihost has been sanctioned by the Internet Service Providers’ Association of South Africa (ISPA) following a complaint over the company’s ability to offer the services it advertises.

ISPA ruled that Afrihost was in contravention of Clause 8 of its Code of Conduct, stating that the ISP advertises services beyond its technical and practical abilities.

The complaint argued that Afrihost cannot provide the “Unshaped, Unmetered, Prioritised” Business ADSL services it advertises on its website, as it could not provide a consistent connection.

Hopefully for Afrihost's sake their "brand new network" will rectify the issues they've been having. I've been fairly happy with my capped account, I think it's the uncapped that has been performing so dismally.

And that is why i left afrihost they just started going downhill after they got too many clients to cater for and couldn't supply the demand for bandwidth. I love Crystal Web

I just hope what happened to Afrihost does not happen to CrystalWeb. I was with Afrihost when they were still rather new (2011) and they were amazing. Then their user base started expanding and they moved over from IS to MTN and things just went to shit. They never recovered.

So yeah, at the moment CrystalWeb is still awesome. I just hope they can maintain their current level of awesome as they get more users.

And before everyone jumped to Afrihost they were all with Mweb until their service crashed and burned. Seems like there is a pattern: Current favourite can keep up with demand and goes downhill -> Everyone bails to new current favourite -> New current favourite can't keep up with demand and goes downhill -> etc.

No problem with mweb is that they got way to strict and started throttling premium clients as much as normal clients and some instancses even worse.

I am super happy with my ISP. great service, never been throttled or shaped, and it's very affordable!
