I played most of Saturday during the day without a single issue and got quite far in the game. At this point, I wouldn't have had any major complaints, HOWEVER, Sunday arrived and I wanted to play some more. Wow, hassles the entire day. The login for the Ubisoft launcher was taking forever, 5min+-. Once in game, it was getting stuck for another 5min+- trying to "Connect to network" after selecting Story Mode. To make things a whole lot worse, frequently during gameplay (2-3 times an hour) the game would suddenly pause and say "Lost connection to server. Reconnecting." with an option to Exit to Windows. At about 5pm the pauses in game had reached unbearable, pausing as much as twice every 5 mins.
The problems eased off completely at about 21:00 and Ubisoft confirms that "we have shit for brains and didn't anticipate the amount of traffic we'd be receiving, so the amount and quality of servers we put up were equally shit".
Its really disappointing, because other than the DRM, clearly the developers have put a tremendous amount of effort in doing a proper PC version. It's top notch and I have thoroughly enjoyed it from the start. Not a single crash, bug, graphical or control issue and the game looks excellent on full graphics. Hopefully Ubi step up and issue another crack as a hotfix.
