Default Microtransaction System Returns to Forza Motorsport 6

Forza’s microtransaction-based ‘Token’ system has been introduced in Forza Motorsport 6 and players will be able to purchase and use tokens to acquire in-game items like cars and Mod packs, explains Turn 10’s Brian Ekberg.

Prices range from 100 tokens for USD$1 to USD$100 for 20,000 tokens.

Forza’s Token system is a secondary currency that was first introduced in Forza Motorsport 4 but is only useful to players who want to buy certain cars for their career garage immediately rather than earn and generate their in-game credits via normal play.

Traditional players who are only interested in building their in-game bank balance by racing (and do not want to see the token feature in any of Forza 6’s menus) will have the option to disable this feature from appearing by turning tokens off in the HUD options.

Forza Motorsport 5 attracted strong criticism for its microtransaction system, which some fans found overzealous. Forza 5’s Free Play mode and in-game economy was adjusted in response to this feedback. Forza Horizon 2 was subsequently launched without the token system present, although it returned to the game after the developers were satisfied that Forza Horizon 2’s in-game economy was working as anticipated.

Knew it was too good to be true, this is Microsoft after all and I guess they just couldn't resist.

Honestly this is not gonna change anything in game for me. By just normally driving and doing our weekly challenge and stuff, I'm getting enough cash and cars that I really have no need to ever even look at the micro transactions. They can add it for people that want to buy the tokens and get the cars quick, but I have no need for it. Honestly not that big of a deal

Granted I've never used the microtransactions in previous iterations. But I hate the fact they release more cars or packs through a pay gate, but it is what it is I guess. Also never bought their tokens either.

The more cars they are releasing is all paid DLC, and there are always many free cars that gets pushed out to everyone as well. The micro transactions are only gonna be for in game cars and mod packs that's already been bought and unlocked via DLC. But, I've already won the most expensive car in the game through a lucky level roll, so yeah, no real issue for me at all.

I think the reason they add micro transaction is to give people without the time to spend racing and getting the in game currency to actually buy and play with the cars of their choice.
