Microsoft may remove disc drive to create slim Xbox One

To lose weight and keep the price down, the new slim Xbox One may only allow for digital downloads and will not have a disc drive.

In that case, it should at least have 2TB HDD installed and an additional USB port for further storage extension.

I would be really interested in this if #1 , they price is good and #2 as you say has enough space. 1TB is good enough for me. (I'm not to much of a hoarder when it comes to installed games)

1TB will run out really quick if you buy digital games mostly, like I do. I have an additional 750gb external plugged into my xbone as my 1TB is full already. Sadly some games are 40-50gb in size :/ which takes up all the space.

How much can the disk drive really add to the price?

I don't know, I haven't purchased a disk in years (Using steam though). And all my friends who have xbox ones or PS4s are purchasing all their games digitally.

And realistically they'll only save around R500 by dropping the optical drive, however if they support an external USB optical drive it might be an option.

ja fair enough. some of us are privileged enough to have decent interweb. but this is supposed to be the "budget" XBone, targeting the "less privileged"

You'd be surprised how many people don't have access to any internet, much less fast internet. those include some of my friends

Yeah true, i was more thinking of myself, in thinking the drive is pretty useless for me so would prefer to buy one without.

In regards to no Internet, I think they would have an issue just having an xbox one, even if they only buy games on Disks.
