Default Which Media Player do you use?

I used to be a big fan of Media Player Classic until Media Player 11 for Vista. Recently I started getting tired of MP11's lack of features and started looking at alternatives again. I tried VLC, but it's a broken piece of mess, then I found SMplayer and after some tweaking is the best thing since MP classic. I can finally change the aspect ratio of HD videos without losing parts of the picture.

    Depends on what I'm doing.

For music I'm using WinAmp 5.x ... but I'm experimenting with some other things.

For video I use a player called GOM Player - its pretty nice really. If I watch files with the same naming format as the rest of the files in the directory it adds them to the playlist and I just need to PgDn to skip to the next episode. It plays pretty much everything

Just refuses to format fonts for subtitles in .ogm and .mkv files - for those two formats I use Mplayer classic.

I haven't touched Windows Media Player since my days using Windows 98.

I use KMPlayer. No need to install extra codecs, it looks pretty and it's quite small resource wise. I used to use GOM player but KMPlayer just works better. I also used to use Media Monkey for music but it had a lot extra functionality that I just don't require.

I used VLC at one stage as well - I've still got it installed - but it handles mkv's with even less facility than GOM. GOM will at least go looking for the codec if you're online - and VLC doesn't play RealMedia files. Unless they've updated since I last used it.

I don't like RM files very much, but sometimes you just can't avoid the damn things.
