Just wish the Die Hard tactical gamers were more in South Africa.
Lots of us have this mentality of wanting something done quick and easy, and Squad is definitely not either of those.
As far as I know there are some dedicated groups of Saffers that do the full milsim thing. Also, games like this and ARMA have a high learning curve and time-to-learn, something not much of as working family people have time for. I would love to get into these style of games, but without dedicated friends to communicate with (I don't fancy randoms) and play with and get accustomed to each others plat styles, I don't have time for these game types.

True, but the only way to get involved with regular players is to play. But yeah, I do understand time be a limiting factor

With the shafting ED and DICE gave us with BF1, this is a good time to start into this game.

I agree though, learning curve is steeper, but I think in the end, much more rewarding. I've played some ARMA 3 and succeeding in a mission is satisfying af.

Luckily this game is not nearly as complex as Arma(A game I love as well!) or at least not yet. Anyone can pick it up and play it's only the squad leader that needs to know what he is doing. In my experience its the squad leader that makes a round amazing or boring as hell.

Allow me to copy and paste my post from Carb. I installed it, finally. Fooled around for a short bit on the firing range. Looks really good, one thing that caught my eye was, when a grenade explodes, you can see the grenade shrapnel kicking up dirt here and there.
Wasnt running too bad either, I'm on a i5 4570, 8Gb Mem and GTX 760. Medium settings, which looks fine. We had some thunder in our area so i didnt have too much time.

Hey, I've upgraded since my last post....

Anyway, I wanted to post a video or two, played some Squad this weekend, and it reminded me so much of ARMA. Obviously, both aiming for realism. The most intense effect is when you are being fired upon and dont get that red indicator you would normally get with other games, so its PANIC STATIONS...and then you die. But it helps not stumbling around like a BF or CoD player

I played around in the training map and thought this very interesting. Am I correct in saying that backblast is the HEAT shaped charge going off? In each of the two videos below, the first round is fragmentation and the last two HEAT (single stage, you get one with two stages, I believe to bypass reactive armour)

Then there is the United States M72 LAW, had the same effect as the RPG.

Oh. Last thing, I am a sucker for detail and this is probably the first time I've seen grenade shrapnel, cant recall seeing it ARMA 3....must have a look. I noticed, I couldnt help but step backwards after lobbing the grenade, I full well know its a game and cant be harmed, but just that instinct...
