    Question MOBO + CPU Help

Okay guys, I need some of your thoughts here.

I currently have a X79 Extreme Mobo, with a 3820 in my machine.
I got a z97X with a 4770K that I can replace the current mobo and CPU with.

Now I have done some research, and apparently this 3820 is a beast when overclocked, and maintains itself well when overclocked.

So will it be worth it to replace the x79 3820 with the Z97 4770K or must I keep what I currently have in?

    Thought?

You can overclock the 4770K too so I'd imagine it would still come out ontop

I'm a sucker for the assumption that "newer generation = better, if both perform similarly"...hehe

Otherwise google that shit and see which one comes out on top.

Z97 is the superior chipset by miles.
Although the x79 is still decent, the Z97 with that 4770K will have it beat in almost every single aspect.

My dilemma is that the x79 is a beast of a Mobo! Maybe I should see to where i can overclock the 3820. It can apparently go comfortably to the 4.6-5 ghz range without any heating problems with a proper cooler

Yeah the chip set was something I was also considering ! Is it that much better though?

Vastly superior in almost ever aspect.
Think of it like this. X79 launched in 2011. Z97 launched mid 2014.

If you just go to CPU boss then the 4770k is much better than the 3820. But that is not over clocked. And doesnt factor in the rest of the setup. If only it was that simple! I am at a crossroads! =D
