Eight years after release, Team Fortress 2 is getting competitive matchmaking

For all of the additions, tweaks and improvements made to Team Fortress 2, in its eight years it has yet to receive a competitive/ranked matchmaking mode.

I jam a lot of TF2...but not particularly interested in this.

I specifically play it because you can pick it up jam 15 mins and then leave it (or play 3 hours if the vibe is right). Doesn't need to be serious...
