Loool ouch, those must have been tough times. XD glad I never had to experience that, I joined in the better days.

So I got in some game time - Word of warning the flight tutorial is bugged at the moment - every now and then game freezes for 2-5 seconds rendering it rather unplayable. This is no matter what settings you have.
Arena Commander free flight and combat modes work well though. I was having fun taking on wave after wave of the vanduul swarm.
The buggy tutorial has become a bit of a irritating issue in some parts of the community. Along the lines of why bother encouraging new players join with things like free fly weeks when the thing that many of them are going to head to first is such a poor reflection of the game?
The devs do acknowledge that the flight tut is bugged as heck and have said that it'll be worked on, but right now it's not a huge priority. I think a lot of CIG's resources are being pushed into getting Squadron 42 ready for release.
That said, glad to hear you got some time slaying alien scumin Arena Commander. Have you had a chance to check out Port Olisar and the mini-universe yet? Fair amount of mini-missions to do in there. Should give you a reasonable idea of the SC game play possibilities.
If you do, here's a solid quick start guide with some useful keyboard commands and general tips on making the most of your visit: https://as.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/...k_start_guide/

Totally agree with that since the tutorial was my first port of call, was about to give up on trying the game out further. I went to some planet - not sure if it was Olisar but all you could do there was walk around as far as I could tell. Will check out the guide though. After playing attack waves I'm keen to play again, it reminded me a bit of Starlancer which had some fun dogfights. I really dig the decoupled mode, with a bit of practice I'm sure I could become a space drift king![]()
