I have swapped out 3 consoles already. Eventually with the last swapout I gave it to my brother and bought a brand new console (still XBOX) and for the past year I have had no issues.

That's the exact same thing I said with the first 2 swapouts. After the 3rd one I was just tired of the long dragged out process of swapping out. So just bought 1.

My console also went RRoD 2 nights ago. Also on my 3rd Xbox already. It is really pathetic that each and everyone of them will fail eventually. I just got my AvP game and now I can't even play it.

I haven't had any video display problems with mine. Try different types of cables and see if that helps maybe?

tried all the different cables and still doesnt work
odd thing is that there were occasions when it did work but it would not let me change the resolution

I had the same problem. So at first I just used to hdtv video cable, this gave me black and white video (So at least I could play) Eventually I just tried heating the end of my av cable (the yellow video cable) with a lighter figured I had nothing to lose. It worked! Best of luck! If this doesn't work you could always play black and white.

what?!?! How did you decide to just heat up the cable? What made you think of that?

Every piece of hardware will eventually fail, they have limited lifespans (you can look up the estimated running time in hours for most pieces of hardware). Some just fry sooner than others.
