Though I do understand some of the skepticism that's coming from everyone in here, I sincerely hope it succeeds. I tested out the vive a few months back and honestly I have to say it was one of the coolest god damn things I've experienced. Just imagine it coupled with a game like star citizen or a race sim.
I think we all agree that it has serious potential, but priced as they are they're out of reach for a large portion of the gaming community, and no publisher is going to allocate huge budgets to a game that has a small potential buying audience. So initially I do think we'll only see a bunch of gimicky titles and unless prices become much cheaper allowing a lot more people to buy it I don't see it progressing further than that. Not this generation anyway.
I don't think it'll be gimicky I mean that's what killed the kinect. The early adopters have money burning in their pockets so no need to pander to them, it's the next wave that'll need some solid convincing. I agree allocating an entire aaa budget to a vr exclusive game won't happen this generation, but if they add in vr support(where it's appropriate) for some games(minor and major) it will definitely give a big push in the right direction. Though a few small exclusives here and there probably won't hurt, sony would likely get one of their smaller studios to bang out a few of these.
Has no one been paying attention to the Star VR???

This thing looks amazing, and pretty much knocks all others out the park...
