Someone like me. There are literally dozens of us.

I don't like celebrating it, so I just go to work. No party or dinner or anything.

People that go on like "omg, it's your birthday!", well they just confuse me. It's not that special, you can relax.

Cause some person decided that the birthday person supplying cake to everyone is a great birthday gift.
We have that here too, but we at least receive a voucher if we buy cake and only have to do it for the people in our department so you get more than you give.

Try to take off from work, avoid telephone calls to do remote support and play games until late.

Years ago I was working remotely from Pretoria while almost all my colleuges were based in Johannesburg. When someone had a birthday, they would send an all@ email, telling people "So & So's birthday, cake is in the kitchen".
So one year, I got fed up, bought a cake and mailed all@ telling them, "It's my birthday, cake is in the kitchen". Seconds later the messages came back, "Waar", "where" to which I responded, "Here in the Pretoria Regional Office". LOL, had some fun that day. A few actually hopped in their cars and came through to the light side.

Geez, that's commitment to free cake! But then you probably had to man up and go get a cake before they got there!

I wake up early and go for a surf. No matter what the waves or weather is doing. It just feels right, I have lived the surf life for so long and I never want it to end so starting my next year with a surf kind of solidifies that for me.
In the evening I will have a braai with close friends and family.

Im heading for 35 years now, so the existential crisis's do sneak up on me too but Im quite a "get over it" quickly kind of person. after 15 minutes Im just like "meh, fukit" and carry on as per usual
