I took quite a few steps to improve my general lifestyle/health/fitness by:
    - Cutting out sugar from coffee, tea, most other drinks I have.
    - Cooking and preparing my own lunches and dinners/breakfasts as far as I possibly can (to control what result comes out you should control what goes in)
    - Running and cycling 6/7 days a week. This is now regardless if it is a short 4km run or a 40km cycle, I still do it. Before or after work, it doesn't matter.
    - Cutting out alcohol (this one really helps)
    - Not brining my work home with me and rather doing projects for myself at home.

I have tried that. Not worth having coffee without my sugar. Tried Xylothol or something as well as Stivea (Don't ask how you spell this stuff) but that was just disgusting tasting but still better than without sugar.

What did help for me was getting a bit of exercise in and cut down on sugary stuff I ate - Bread, sweets, souses, a lot of white stuff like: pasta, potato, rice. I do a lot of fish, chicken and veg but read meat as well. I do not totally cut everything just out and restrict myself in what I should or shouldn't eat but rather have far less bread than vegetables for instance. Yes, I have also stopped drinking my 2L of coke a day. Mostly water now and coffee. (I have to have sugar in coffee - sorry)

Worked well for me without too much effort.

I stopped drinking sugar in my coffee when I was 14 or 15, no idea why, just decided one day.

Forcing myself to experience new things, even things I think I might not enjoy on first impressions, I have decide that any experience Good or Bad is worthwhile if you are capable of learning from it and thereby becoming a better human

Ongoing effort this side as well. In combination with bringing costs down. I can/am doing delicious & healthy...but its costing a fortune so need to rebalance that.

Yeah been pushing myself at work on this front. e.g. Volunteered to present multi day training in front of 30+ people (the introvert in me is cringing already). Too late to back out now.

Other things on to-do list: Meditation, reading more, reducing internet, fixing sleep patterns

Still trying to figure this whole self development out as well.

Was feeling very stagnant in life last year. Days became so monotonous of wake up, work, get home and maybe watch some series or play some CS and then bed. Rinse and repeat. Eventually got the courage 1 day to apply for a job here down in Cape Town and ended up moving down here (from Joburg) beginning of November. The change of scenery has definitely helped. I feel like I've gone out and done more things in the last few months than I did in the last few years in Joburg.

My struggles come now that obviously things will slow down again but I want to try stay motivated. With all my friends still up in Joburg it has been challenging to try get to a space where I'm comfortable to go out and do things on my own. So whether it's going for a hike or maybe even driving out to all the surrounding mountain areas. So that's my current focus of self improvement, becoming comfortable going out and finding adventure on my own. Hopefully it leads into travelling overseas on my own

I did a personal development course a few years back called Harlequin, then Chalice. The lessons i learnt on that course still resonate with me today and I am way more self aware from doing that. it help understand why things happen to me and others when they do, which in turn helps you deal with them better. I always tell people that Harlequin isn't a course that everyone NEEDS to do but its a course everyone needs to do. Even if that only makes sense to me.
Also I met my current wife there so double bonus. Its supportive that we've both done the course so know how to relate things to each other and clear things with each other. Not sure i could ever date/marry someone that hasn't done the course.
