The best games from the greatest decade in gaming

While the 90s may not have been a fantastic period for pop music, it was an excellent time to be a gamer.

I'd have the original Diablo near the top. But pretty decent list.

One of these days I might even try and grab a copy of Chrono Trigger and dig out my old DS... Hear its a great one!

So many great games that didn't make the list. Interestingly, the original Diablo "only" has an aggregate score of 89%. It didn't even crack the top 30, if memory serves.

Yea, I can think of quite a few as well but mostly just my personal opinion, also many of these games affected the games of today in one way or another.
Unreal
Soul Reaver
Dungeon Keeper
Myst/Riven
abe's oddysee
Duke Nukem
Quake 1&2

the list goes on and on

90's were in my opinion the birth of mainstream (and multiplayer) gaming.

Oh yeah - How could I not include Duke Nukem. *My apologies, Duke*

Personally only played 2 games on that list - Tony Hawks Pro Skater (Still have the original) an Half-life. The rest I played did not make the list. Played Diablo, System Shock, Red Alert and Tomb Raider.

And BeoTeK also commented on my earlier Nostalgia article that these games deserve a mention:
• Commander Keen
• Monkey Island
• Another World

Completely agree. Sadly, GameRankings didn't list them

hehe... at least 2 of those titles can still be played thanks to the beauty of Remaster technology. And believe me, I do still play them!

I still need to play Another World... But Commander Keen was awesome! Played most of them, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Dude, you are really missing out! The complexity of the word play and puzzles, thought provoking game play that really has that aha moment. You owe it to yourself to check them out man, if need be I can assist with legal versions.
