What do you mean ? There never was an official Vanilla WoW server, or do you mean the idea of it? Or did Blizzard get a private Vanilla WoW server shut down?
It's been one of the big news items this last week, they forced the biggest private server to shut down.
There was a private vanilla WoW server called Nostalrius that was shut down by Blizzard for operating outside its specific rules, it was one of the only places to play vanilla WoW I believe.
Ah is see, yeah that would piss a lot of people off.

Why not steal buttloads of cash instead? Why just DDoS people? Seriously, what incentive is there to just wanna piss off groups without a good score to take.
So all they can do is flood people with copious amounts of meaningless data. F*** sake, if I'm gonna hack into your sh**, I'd wanna make a motherf****** profit out the deal. IMO.
