Interesting, I agree and disagree with various premises surrounding the topic at large.

I don't think it would be a psychologically healthy alternative for relationship fulfillment , but I think their might be a place for this
whereas it would be negative for the aforementioned relationship substitute it would most definitely be safer than picking up strangers
or sex with a prostitute.

also a few things about what Kathleen Richardson says "“Paedophiles, rapists, people who can’t make human connections – they need therapy, not dolls” yes they need therapy also what makes you think they cant make human connections, they are more often than not compulsive and have problems controlling themselves some of these individuals even hate themselves for what they do but are like heroin addicts looking for a fix, I am by no means a psychologist but if these robots could be used as substitutes rather than actual children or adult victims then why not, they do for drug rehab.

Kathleen Richardson seems to have some slightly extreme feminist opinions. Which sadly many people will look at her opinions thinking, "Well... all feminists must be like this, Right?" While she does make some valid points to her argument agenda seems to be the objectification of women and children.

The development of sex robots and the ideas to support their production show the immense horrors still present in the world of prostitution which is built on the “perceived” inferiority of women and children and therefore justifies their use as sex objects.

This is so debatable that there will never be a sound conclusion to it. Specifically looking at “perceived” inferiority of women and children Everyone knows that men as well as women are sex workers and both are equally exposed to the dangers there of. Some gender theorists believe that as long as everyone looks at each other as male and female, and not people then problems with gender equality will always be present.

You will find a great many people do not wish to take part in the social constructs of dating and perusing interpersonal relationships. They may have social problems, disorders, physical deformities that they believe would put any one off, leaving them with no real way to experience sex other than paying for it.
Medically and Scientifically this could also help people in some way of overcoming sexual anxieties, and assist in many forms of sexual therapy, help develop better psychological understanding of people and sexual perceptions and psycho-sexual research as well as a host of many other possibilities.

Mind you I can actually see sex workers opposing this due to their lively hood being taken away from them.
