Just to echo what Joker is saying here a bucket load of factors play a role in local pricing. These factors can essentially be broken into direct or indirect costs. These are further broken down into the various supply chains. Good example is the iPhone 6 the manufacturing costs is around $ 220 - $ 250 per unit as it rolls out the factory. Yet we pay around R12k for an iPhone 6, the costs escalate as you have to take into account packing, warehousing, shipping, handling, taxes, port charges, distributor markup, etc etc etc... which then becomes R12k when you walk into a shop. So yes, while RRP is a fair indication for a US/UK/Aus purchase it does not take into account import duties and sales tax (VAT) for us and the exchange rate will also kill us a notch.
Realistically I see the 1080 hitting our shores at a similar price as the current 980s, I don't expect it to be much less than that.
